The league winners of Europe’s top 5 leagues in season 2020/21
The season 2020/21 has finally ended for the Europe’s top five leagues and what a season it was. All the leagues had key games till the very last day be it Juventus , Napoli or AC Milan battling it out for the champions league spot or the teams from the premier league and Ligue 1.
Bundesliaga (German League): The Bundesliga saw dominant display from their 9 times league winner FC Bayern Munchen as they thrashed most of their opponents and the last matchday turned an occasion of farewell for their long serving warriors libe Javi Martinez , David Alaba and Jerome Boaetang leaving the club. Rober Lewandowski also broke Gerrad Muller’s record of 40 goals in a season by scoring the 41st goal on the final matchday against Augsburg.
Premier League (English League): Manchester City won their Fifth Premier League title comfortably and club bid farewell to their goal scoring legend Sergio Aguero who surpassed Wayne Rooney (183) record of most goals for a single club in the premier league by scoring a brace on their final day. It was Chelsea who just needed to win their last league game to secure the spot top 4 spot, however Liverpool and Leicester were still very much dependent on each others result. But a last minutes goals by Tottenham could not book a place for Leicester FC in the Champions league next season and Chelsea secure their spot.
Ligue1 (French League): It was all dependent on Lille’s performance on the final day and they secure 2 first half goals which helped then dethrone the mighty Paris Saint Germain. Lille ended PSG’s dominance to win Ligue 1 title for first time in 10 years. Although PSG also managed to win their final game with the help of an own goal and a goal by Kylian Mbappe.
Serie A (Italian League): Well, after almost a decade, Inter Milan were finally crowned the champions of Italian league Serie A and we can say that the former champions Juventus were well below power this time around due to the introduction a newly appointed coach Andrea Pirlo and a weak midfield. Juventus managed to win on the final matchday and as a courtesy of the draw between Napoli and Hellos Verona, Juve were able to secure a spot in the Champions League next season. Andrea Pirlo’s future is still doubtful but Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to stay until the end of his contract for the Bianconeri. Cristiano is also the top scorer in Serie A this season with 29 goals.
La Liga (Spanish League): Atletico Madrid’s win on the final day made them the champions of the Spanish league . Luis Suarez played a crucial role in rolling them over the line and providing their 2nd La liga title under their manager Diego Simeone.
