India’s chances for the World Cup and Asian Cup : India VS Qatar / Preview

India are all set to take on Qatar in the 6th match of their World Cup Qualifiers. It was supposed to be a home game for the men in blue but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in the country, all their matches of AFC Zone 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers were shifted to Qatar.

The blue tigers have a very low chance of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar 2022 as they heavily rely on Qatar’s loss in their remaining 3 fixtures and need to win all of their three ties against Qatar, Bangladesh and Afghanistan respectively. Qatar currently sits in the 57th spot in the FIFA rankings whereas the Indian Football team is in 105th position.

Igor Stimac is the head coach for the Indian team and his men only managed to score 3 points in the last 5 fixtures of their tournament outing. However, there is still plenty to play for and still hope and for the Asia Cup qualification as even if India losses to Qatar, they will have to win against Bangladesh and Afghanistan to secure the 3rd spot in the group.

India will play Bangladesh on 7th of June and Afghanistan on 15th on the same venue (Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium). The fixture against Qatar will start from 10:30 PM onwards and can be watched on Star Sports network, Disney+ Hotstar or Jio Tv.
